Drift 1 Strategy

I started my drift in the middle of a secluded forest in hopes of finding a few different types of environments. I used the second left first right strategy and after I left the woods I found myself in a secluded suburban neighborhood and then eventually in a more city like environment. This added more diversity however I had trouble finding worthwhile noises in the woods as it was almost entirely quite. But their was an interesting contrast between the city like noises and the suburban ones. In the suburbs I found kids playing and shovel noises that echoed off of the huge solid houses. In the city I found more traffic noises and general hustle and bustle. Eventually I decided to go in a straight line back to my starting point to avoid getting lost and found interesting bird and melting snow noises near a student housing area.

Chiping at Ice

Close to campus I found a guy chipping away at the melting ice in his driveway. I thought it went well with the atmosphere of the walk. I heard alot of melting ice and shoveling noises and it seemed to embody a thawing out process that hinted winter was on its way out.

Rythmic Water Drip

Heading back toward campus I found myself in an area that appeared to mostly be student apartments. Snow was melting of a rooftop and landing on a metal gutter which made this interesting rhythmic patter.

Idling Truck Engine

In a louder more commerce oriented area I found this truck engine idling outside a building. Their were also apartments around but most other sounds were drowned out by the engine.

Suburban Sounds

As I was leaving the same suburban area from the first recording I came across a dog barking. Before I started recording he was barking back and forth with another dog but stopped after I started recording.

Kids with Mother

I had just left a wooded area and entered this suburban area with expensive and large old homes. It had a sense of seclusion that was not felt in any other parts of the drift except the woods. I came across some kids playing while their mother shoveled snow. There was an interesting echo. It was a little akward to be standing their recording them but I figured it was worth it.
